Add the Dollar Index to Ensign
|
On NYBOT a Dollar Index future is traded which gives a nice picture of the relationship of 6 major currencies versus the US Dollar. Unfortunatly IB is not carrying this futures contract. But using Ensign, you can make your own version of the US Dollar Index ($DX) 1. Click Set-Up / Customs symbol
2. Enter the following information
Only difference to the "real" DX index is, that the Swedish Krona got replaced with the Australian Dollar, as IB is not carrying the Swedish Krona futures. Of course this change makes the value you get for this $DX you setup, not comparable to the real Dollar index. But, you don't want to trade it, you want a $DX as index, which might move faster than the currency you are trading. Click Add/Resave and close the window 3. Add the new $DX M4 to a quote page in Ensign
4. Add your new $DS M4 chart to Ensign

The reason why the Yen is
multiplied by 1360 instead of 13.60 is, that the Yen is printed
at 0.000001 being 1 tick, while the other currencies are printed at
0.0001 being 1 tick
This means you need to multiply the Yen by 100, to make it comparable to
the other currencies.
The different multiplicators (6.25$ / 10$ / 12.50$ per
tick value) used in the Futures need not to be addressed as the
daily ranges reflect the different value in the currencies
